Prof. Dr. Rudi Studer, technical director of the SEKT project, gave a keynote at the 5th International Semantic Web Conference in Athens, USA this month.

Prof. Dr. Rudi Studer, technical director of the SEKT project, gave a keynote at the 5th International Semantic Web Conference that was hosted last week in Athens, USA. He talked about what he called the "customer/supplyer relationships" between the Semantic Web community and several other disciplines. In essence he discussed the interaction with the following disciplines: knowledge representation, databases, software engineering, natural language processing and machine learning. As an example of the synergies that might be achieved by bringing together methods from different disciplines he outlined among others some results that have been achieved within the SEKT project with respect to text classification and ontology learning. The slides are available at: http://iswc2006.semanticweb.org/program/keynote_studer.htm.
